Woman Busted for Giving Fake Testimony at Zion Ministry, Arraigned in Enugu Court
A 32-year-old woman, Loveth Alo Helen, has been arraigned before the Enugu North Magistrate Court for allegedly giving a false testimony at Prophet Ebuka Obi’s Zion Prayer Movement outreach in Lagos. Helen had appeared in a widely circulated video where she testified that God had blessed her with a property, reportedly worth N200 million. Footage of the building was also shown during her testimony at the church.
In a follow-up video, she allegedly claimed she had purchased the house, a five-bedroom duplex located at Plot 16, WTC Estate, Enugu. However, investigations revealed that the property belongs to Architect Emmanuel Asogwa. Helen was consequently charged with four counts, including obtaining by false pretence with intent to defraud, defamation of character, and attempting to commit a felony by allegedly trying to sell the property.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, presided over by Magistrate S.O. Chukwuani, Helen pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court granted her bail in the sum of N1 million, with one surety required to present a three-year tax clearance. The case, filed as MEN/112C/25 by the Commissioner of Police, was adjourned to April 9, 2025, for further hearing.
Addressing reporters after her arraignment, Helen claimed she did not plan the testimony with anyone, nor did she collect money or benefits in exchange. She explained that she made the testimony in faith, believing she would eventually acquire the house. According to her, she had inspected the building and informed those present that she intended to proceed with the purchase.
At the time of filing this report, Helen had yet to meet her bail conditions.
