Woman Arrested for Beating Husband to Death with a Log of Firewood
Police in Yobe State have arrested a 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, for allegedly beating her husband to death during a domestic dispute in Fika Local Government Area. According to a statement released on Wednesday, July 23, by the spokesperson of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect reportedly used a log of wood to strike her husband during a heated argument over food.
The victim, a polygamous man with two wives and five children, died from the injuries sustained in the attack. Police say an investigation is ongoing, and Hadiza Mamuda will be charged in court once the inquiry is complete.
Commenting on the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, called for greater community intervention to prevent domestic violence. He urged religious and community leaders to intensify awareness campaigns against physical abuse in marriages. The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state.
