Without NIN, you can’t get passport, drivers licence – NCC
The Nigerian Communications Commission has revealed that Nigerians who fail to link their Subscriber Identity Modules (SIM) to their National Identity Numbers (NIN) would not be able to obtain some important documents including driving licences and passports henceforth.
This was reiterated in a released public statement by Dr Okechukwu Adinde, the NCC Director of Public Affairs.
He further said that the October 31 deadline issued by the FG for the linkage remains sacrosanct.
The statement read, “NCC has reminded and urged telecoms consumers to link their NINs with their SIMs before the expiration of the deadline of October 31, 2021 set by the Federal Government.”
“Soon, people without NIN will be denied necessary services that play vital roles in their lives including acquisition of driving licence, passport.”
You would recall that the Federal government had after several extensions, put the deadline at October 31, 2021. The Federal Government had stated that all telecommunication operators in the country should disconnect every SIM card not synchronized with valid National Identity Number (NIN) by the said date.
