“Wike Is a Vagabond; What Has He Done in Rivers PDP?” — Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his comments on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, questioning the minister’s record in his home state.

Makinde dismissed Wike’s claim of interest in Oyo PDP, arguing that the former Rivers State governor had not strengthened the party in Rivers before speaking on matters elsewhere.

“Someone said he wants to pick interest in Oyo PDP. We should ask him what he has done in Rivers PDP,” Makinde said in a video circulating online.

The governor also referred to individuals he described as vagabonds who were expelled from the PDP in November 2025. “Some vagabond surfaced fully in 2015 and were expelled in 2025. Ask him what he has done with the PDP in Rivers State to now have an interest in Oyo PDP,” he added.

Makinde’s remarks came after Wike, at the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, declared his interest in all activities of the Oyo State PDP.

“Let me declare my interest clearly: I am interested in the survival and success of this party. I am also interested in all the happenings in Oyo State PDP. That is all I am interested in,” Wike said.

The PDP has seen rising internal tensions in recent months, highlighted by public disagreements among senior members. In November 2025, the party expelled Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, and former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu during its national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. The expulsion followed a motion by former National Vice Chairman (South) Chief Olabode George, seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman Samaila Buga.
