Igbo Youth Coalition DG, Dr. Ekwerekwu, Hails Obi Cubana’s Appointment
The Director-General of the Coalition of Igbo Youth Leaders (CIYL), Hon. Dr. Wilson Ekwerekwu, has commended the appointment of businessman and philanthropist, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana), as Southeast Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, describing it as a reflection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his commitment to inclusive national engagement.
In a statement on Tuesday, Dr. Ekwerekwu said the appointment aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of integrating enterprise-driven leadership, youth empowerment, and regional representation into governance and political participation.
According to him, Obi Cubana’s stature across business, culture, and youth initiatives positions him as a unifying figure capable of mobilising professionals and entrepreneurs in the Southeast in support of national development goals.
“This appointment underscores the President’s resolve to create opportunities for credible leaders from all regions. Obi Cubana exemplifies the blend of capacity, credibility, and grassroots influence that advances the Renewed Hope vision,” Dr. Ekwerekwu said.
Also hailing from Anambra State alongside Obi Cubana, Dr. Wilson Ekwerekwu is a renowned business tycoon, political strategist, and community mobilizer. He serves as Director-General of CIYL and CEO of CODE 9 International, bringing decades of experience in enterprise, youth advocacy, and organizational leadership. As State Secretary of the City Boy Movement, Anambra Chapter, Dr. Ekwerekwu has been instrumental in strengthening coordination, grassroots mobilization, and strategic outreach across the state.
He added that Obi Cubana’s role would expand youth participation, strengthen regional outreach, and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections, reaffirming confidence in President Tinubu’s inclusive leadership and policy direction.
