Why We Denied Wabara’s Job Slot Request – FCC

 

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has addressed allegations made by former Nigerian Senate President Adolphus Wabara regarding job placements in his constituency. Wabara claimed that his efforts to secure employment for constituents were obstructed due to his refusal to pay bribes.

 

In a statement, FCC Spokesperson Dr. Chuks Okoli clarified that Wabara’s request for job placements was outside the commission’s mandate, which does not operate as a recruitment agency. Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, the FCC Executive Chairman, had previously informed Wabara of this during a March 2023 meeting.

 

The FCC challenged Wabara to provide evidence of his bribery claims, urging the public to disregard his accusations. The commission emphasized its commitment to adhering to the Federal Character principle in staff recruitment since Dr. Dankaka’s appointment.

 

“The public is encouraged to dismiss the unsubstantiated allegations of ‘bribe for FCC job slot’ made by Wabara,” Okoli stated, reinforcing the commission’s integrity in its recruitment processes.
