JUST IN: President Tinubu Appoints New Executive Chairman and Commissioners for Federal Character Commission (Full List)
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). She replaces Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was marked by controversy.
In addition to Omidiran’s appointment, President Tinubu named Mohammed Musa as the new Secretary of the Commission. Kayode Oladele from Ogun State, who previously served as the FCC’s acting chairman and was appointed commissioner by President Tinubu in 2024, has been retained.
The President also renewed the appointments of several commissioners for a second term, including Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa), Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi), Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun), and Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawalla (Lagos).
Newly appointed commissioners represent a broad spectrum of Nigerian states, reflecting the commission’s federal character mandate. The new commissioners are:
