Why Obidients Pose a Greater Challenge for Tinubu Than Nigeria’s Economy – Daniel Bwala
In a surprising turn of events, the spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, has raised concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s ability to manage the supporters of Peter Obi, known as the “Obidients.” Bwala suggested that this challenge could prove even more daunting than addressing the economic issues facing Nigeria.
Bwala’s remarks were in response to comments made by Datti Baba-Ahmed, Peter Obi’s running mate, regarding the Supreme Court’s verdict affirming Tinubu’s victory as Nigeria’s president. While speaking on a Monday interview program, Datti Baba-Ahmed maintained that the Supreme Court decision only validated the illegality of lower court rulings and did not confirm Tinubu’s victory. He also made strong allegations against Tinubu, including accusations of certificate forgery and involvement with drug money.
However, on Tuesday, Daniel Bwala took to his X handle to express his concerns, stating, “Listening to Datti Baba-Ahmed this evening, I believe the man has not shifted a bit from his earlier position, although he now accepts the fact that Tinubu is the President by the court. But Peter Obi and Datti’s position today convinced me that @officialABAT Tinubu has more problems to manage with the Labour Party and Obidients than the entire economy and insecurity in Nigeria. How he will navigate this is a course to be taught at OAU, ABU, and Nsukka universities.”
As President Tinubu begins his tenure, it remains to be seen how he will handle the challenges posed by the Obidients and the ongoing political dynamics in Nigeria.
