“When We Catch ADC People, We’ll Hand Them Over To You” — Okpebholo Loyalist Threatens Opponents Before Edo CP

A loyalist of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has sparked controversy after threatening members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while addressing the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, at a public gathering.

In a video circulating online , the governor’s aide, known for publicly praising the governor, was seen telling the police commissioner that ADC members would be apprehended and handed over to security authorities.

“You will be in this Edo State, CP Monday, the name of the governor is Monday, and your name is Monday. That’s why you people are working. CP, we are loyal to you. When we catch ADC people, we will hand them over to you, straight to Abuja,” he said.

The remarks have drawn concern, particularly as CP Agbonika did not publicly caution the speaker during the event and remained seated as the comments were made.

The same aide has also come under scrutiny over previous remarks targeting opposition figures, including ADC members and Labour Party’s former presidential candidate Peter Obi. In another recent video, he was heard making further inflammatory comments, including insulting Obi.

The latest incident has raised questions over political intolerance and the response of security authorities to threats made in public.

As of press time, neither Governor Okpebholo nor the Edo State Police Command had issued a statement on the video or the comments made.
