“We’re Going to War in 2027, PDP Must Go” — Ajimobi Declares in Oyo
Florence Ajimobi, ambassador-designate and widow of late Oyo State governor Abiola Ajimobi, has said the 2027 general election in Oyo State will be fiercely contested, declaring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must be voted out of power.
Ajimobi, a senior figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, made the remarks in a video that has circulated widely on social media. She spoke while addressing journalists at a political gathering, expressing confidence in the APC’s preparedness to challenge the PDP at both state and federal levels.
Describing the next election as a “war,” Ajimobi said the APC would confront the PDP directly and would not be deterred by any strategies deployed by the opposition. She added that while faith remains central, her party is determined to actively pursue victory at the polls.
Ajimobi also pointed to what she described as strong federal backing for the APC, including financial and institutional support, which she said would balance any advantage currently enjoyed by the PDP within the state.
According to her, the APC is fully prepared and will not be intimidated as the election approaches, urging the opposition to brace for a serious contest in 2027.
Her comments have generated mixed reactions online. Some critics have cautioned against the use of combative language in a democratic setting, while supporters argue that her remarks reflect confidence and resolve ahead of the next general election.
