We erroneously received N1b from contractor – NCS
An Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Ahmed Magaji, has said an amount of N1billion was erroneously transfered to the account of service by a contractor since 2019.
He made this statement while appearing before the panel of The House of Representatives Committee on Finance to explain the financial status and income of the service.
Magaji, who is the Director of Budget and Finance of the service, said when the discovery was made, the NCS immediately reported the matter to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) for immediate action.
He however stated that, the NCS has been working to return the money to the contractor since 2019, as the records still reflect in the service’s account even when it did not access the funds.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. James Faleke, gave the NCS two weeks to re-appear before the panel with relevant documents for further hearing.
