Nigeria Customs Service Provides Update on 2025 Recruitment Exercise
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has provided an update on its ongoing recruitment exercise, which began with an official advertisement in national newspapers on December 27, 2024. The recruitment aims to strengthen manpower and improve service delivery, with a total of 3,927 vacancies available across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.
During the first phase, the Service received 573,523 applications. Following a thorough documentary review, 286,697 candidates have been invited to proceed to the next stage, which will take place from September 14 to 21, 2025, through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT). This approach underscores NCS’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and fairness in its selection process.
Shortlisted candidates can undertake the CBT from any location with reliable internet access. The test must be completed on a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display, as mobile phones are not supported. A facial verification process will be conducted during login, and candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to avoid recognition issues.
The CBT system is sensitive to noise and movement, and candidates must remain focused throughout the test. Excessive movement, whispering, background distractions, or switching between windows may result in automatic logout or disqualification.
To support candidates, NCS will conduct a mandatory pre-test session two days before the actual CBT, allowing applicants to familiarize themselves with the system. Two separate links will be provided to candidates—one for the pre-test and another for the main examination. Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also undergo an additional CBT in the next phase, a requirement not applicable to Inspectorate and Customs Assistant applicants.
The Nigeria Customs Service emphasized that the recruitment process is strictly merit-based and transparent. Successful candidates will be notified of subsequent phases through official NCS channels. The Service cautions applicants to follow official guidelines and avoid unofficial platforms, as NCS does not charge fees or conduct recruitment activities via social media.
