Violence Erupts at APC Congress as Ibori’s Daughter Attacked by Armed Men
Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State witnessed violent disruption at the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress on Saturday, when Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, federal lawmaker representing Ethiope Constituency and daughter of James Ibori, came under attack by armed assailants.
The incident took place at Ovade, the designated venue for the congress. Reports indicate that several people sustained injuries during the outbreak of violence.
Eyewitnesses say the attack occurred shortly after Ibori-Suenu’s arrival. The lawmaker and her supporters were confronted with firearms and other weapons as the assailants attempted to block her entry. The assault was ultimately prevented by her security team, allowing her to remain unharmed.
The circumstances surrounding the violence are still under investigation, highlighting growing tensions within the party in the state.
