ADC Wins First Polled Unit in FCT Area Council Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has secured victory at its first polling unit in the ongoing Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Results from Polling Unit 076, located at Sani Abacha Estate in Wuse Zone 4, show that ADC received seven of the 10 votes cast. APC secured two votes, while one ballot was rejected.

The polling unit is where Dr. Moses Paul, ADC candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), voted.

Voting at the unit recorded low turnout, a pattern observed in several parts of the FCT. Dr. Paul attributed the situation to movement restrictions announced ahead of the election, describing the turnout as significantly below expectations.

He also raised concerns about the conduct of the election in other areas, alleging that party agents in Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa ward, including Dogongada and Shereti, faced threats and intimidation. According to him, some agents were warned against participating in the process.

Despite the concerns, Dr. Paul commended electoral officials at his polling unit, stating that they adhered to procedures.

He further alleged incidents of vote buying in parts of the territory and called for credible conduct throughout the electoral process.

Voting continues across the FCT as collation of results begins at various centres.
