Video: Peter Obi Backs Amamgbo for Senate, Rallies Support for ADC Candidates Nationwide

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, has thrown his weight behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Anambra South Senatorial District, Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, to complete the tenure of Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

Obi made the endorsement on Thursday during a campaign rally in Ihiala Local Government Area, stressing that the choice was not only about addressing the historical imbalance; with Ihiala yet to produce a senator, but also about electing a candidate with the competence and capacity to credibly represent Anambra South in the National Assembly.

He further explained that since the Labour Party has no candidates in the August 16 senatorial and State House of Assembly by-elections, it became necessary to support candidates from the newly formed coalition under the ADC banner.

Highlighting his adopted candidates, Obi mentioned Barr. Donald Amamgbo and the widow of late Hon. Justice Azuka, who was tragically slain after being abducted on December 24, 2025; as the Obi-dient Movement’s preferred choices in Anambra State. He called on his supporters across the country to vote massively for ADC candidates.

The endorsement marks a significant political boost for Amamgbo, widely seen as a man of character and credibility, and a welcome nod to the long-marginalised people of Ihiala, who are grappling with pressing challenges, particularly in security, and are eager for a representative capable of restoring hope and driving progress.
