Former House Member Defects to ADC Weeks After Resigning as Akpabio’s Aide
Patty Etete, a former member of the House of Representatives, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The move comes less than three weeks after he stepped down as senior legislative aide to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a letter dated March 14 to the APC chairman of Ward 1, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Etete cited “unresolved differences, including interference, exclusion, and strange experiences within the party” as reasons for his departure.
Etete resigned from his role in the Senate President’s office on February 26, describing his decision as “long overdue” due to years of humiliation, discrimination, and restricted access to Akpabio. He also referenced accepting a “downgraded designation” in good faith, which ultimately made the working environment untenable.
Representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, Etete confirmed to newsmen on Monday that he would continue his political career under the ADC banner.
