David Mark Breaks Silence on Obi, Kwankwaso’s Exit from ADC
Senator David Mark has responded to the exit of former presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the development will push the party to strengthen its political operations ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mark made the remarks on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja during a meeting with members of the Forum of ADC Former and Serving Federal Lawmakers.
He acknowledged that the departure of the two high-profile politicians would affect the party’s structure but insisted it would also serve as motivation.
“No doubt, the exit of Obi and Kwankwaso has its impact, but it will spur us to work harder,” Mark said.
He added that the party remains committed to building a stronger platform and presenting candidates capable of winning national elections in 2027.
Earlier, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party was not shaken by recent defections involving some of its lawmakers.
Abdullahi argued that those who left the party were driven by personal political calculations rather than party ideology.
“The people who left followed their idols whom they believe would help them win elections. We wish them good luck, but the core structures of our party remain intact,” he said.
The ADC leadership maintains that despite the political realignments, its internal organisation and grassroots network remain stable as it prepares for future electoral contests.
