Vice President Kashim Shettima Joins Super Eagles Celebration Following Thrilling AFCON Semi-Final Win
Vice President Kashim Shettima shared in the jubilation as the Super Eagles emerged victorious in a nail-biting African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 semi-final clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Cote d’Ivoire.
The intense match concluded with a 1-1 scoreline after extra time, with both goals coming from penalties. Captain William Troost-Ekong netted for Nigeria in the 67th minute, only to be matched by Teboho Mokoena’s equalizer from a 90th-minute spot-kick.
As the three-time champions secured their place in the final, Vice President Shettima celebrated alongside the Super Eagles, expressing his elation in the dressing room after the hard-fought victory.
Before the kickoff, President Bola Tinubu had sent Vice President Shettima to boost the team’s morale, underscoring the government’s support for the national squad.
The Super Eagles will now face either hosts Ivory Coast or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final showdown on Sunday.
