US President’s Son, Hunter Biden, Convicted on All 3 Charges in Federal Gun Trial

In a historic verdict, a federal jury has convicted Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, on three felony charges related to firearms violations. This marks the first instance in US history where an immediate family member of a sitting president has been found guilty of a crime during their father’s tenure.

The charges centered on a revolver Hunter Biden purchased at a Delaware gun shop in October 2018. He was found guilty of lying about his drug use on a federal background check form and for possessing a firearm while struggling with addiction. The jury reached its decision after nearly three hours of deliberation.

Hunter Biden, who faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $750,000 fine, is expected to receive a lighter sentence as a first-time offender. The conviction culminates a protracted investigation by the Justice Department, which began in 2018.

Throughout the trial, which shed light on Hunter Biden’s battle with addiction, his family, including First Lady Jill Biden, attended court sessions and some members even testified on his behalf. The trial featured emotional testimonies and detailed Hunter’s personal struggles.

The legal proceedings are set to continue with Hunter Biden’s upcoming trial in September on federal tax offenses. Both cases are being prosecuted by Special Counsel David Weiss, who has firmly denied any political motivations behind the investigations.

President Joe Biden has stated that he will not pardon his son, emphasizing the independence of the judicial process.
