Unidentified Gunmen Launch Assault on Oyo Town, Abduct Two, Injure One
In a distressing incident early Saturday morning, unidentified gunmen targeted Otu town in Oyo State, resulting in the kidnapping of two individuals and the injury of another.
The victims were identified as Mr. Dayo Olayanju and the wife of Mr. Kehinde Obasola. While Mr. Obasola managed to escape the attack with gunshot wounds, his wife was unfortunately abducted by the assailants.
Otu is situated within the Itesiwaju Local Government Area in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State. The exact whereabouts of the kidnapped individuals remain undisclosed as of the latest report.
A local community leader, who requested anonymity, confirmed the incident, stating, “It is true. It happened around 2 am today. They were kidnapped in different areas. One was kidnapped along Okeho road.”
Efforts to obtain comments from the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, proved futile as calls to his telephone went unanswered. Similarly, attempts to reach the state Commandant of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), also known as Amotekun, Olayinka Olayanju, were unsuccessful.
The community is now grappling with the aftermath of this unsettling incident, and concerns are mounting as the fate of the kidnapped victims remains uncertain. Authorities are expected to provide updates on the investigation and measures taken to address the security situation in the affected area.
