Umuahia Butcher Arrested for Stabbing Customer Over Meat Price
A butcher has been taken into police custody after allegedly stabbing a customer in the neck with scissors during a dispute over meat prices.
The incident occurred on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Orie Ugba Market in Umuahia.
DSP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, confirmed the attack and the suspect’s arrest. She said the victim was immediately taken to a hospital and is responding to treatment.
Police officers from the Central Police Station in Umuahia visited the scene to investigate. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues and is expected to be charged in court once the inquiry is complete.
