Two Media Aides to State Governor Resign
Pastor Taiwo Gbamila, who served as Senior Special Assistant on Multimedia, submitted his resignation in a letter dated February 16, 2026. In the letter addressed to the governor, Gbamila thanked the administration for the opportunity to serve and formally stepped down from office.
Sources at the Governor’s Office confirmed that the resignation was received and acknowledged. Gbamila’s letter was brief and expressed appreciation for the chance to contribute to the state’s governance during his tenure.
Another aide, Olugbenga Abire, also resigned. He disclosed his decision in a Facebook post before an official announcement.
Abire said he personally informed Governor Aiyedatiwa of his decision on Sunday. According to him, the governor offered prayers and support for his next steps. He added that their meeting lasted about six minutes, during which the governor encouraged him as he pursues new opportunities.
Abire said he chose to make his decision public early to prevent speculation, stressing that his exit was voluntary.
The departures come amid indications that other members of the governor’s media team may also leave their roles, citing dissatisfaction with current conditions within the unit.
