Two Ekiti Monarchs Brutally Killed by Gunmen
Suspected herdsmen unleashed terror on Monday, claiming the lives of two revered traditional rulers in Ekiti State. The heart-wrenching incident unfolded between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti in the Ajoni Local Government Area.
The victims, namely the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area, were ambushed by the assailants while returning from a crucial meeting. Sources revealed that another monarch, the Alara of Ara in Ikole LG, narrowly escaped the clutches of the armed assailants, who attempted to forcefully abduct them.
Travelling together, the traditional leaders fell victim to the armed herdsmen who mercilessly unleashed a barrage of bullets upon them. The attackers not only took their personal belongings but callously dragged their lifeless bodies into the depths of the surrounding bushes. This disturbing incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the escalating insecurity in the country.
