Gunmen Attack PoS Operators in Imo, Leaving Four Dead
In a disturbing incident on Monday, gunmen launched a violent assault at Ohii Junction along the Owerri-Orlu Road in Imo State, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least four individuals.
Among the casualties, two victims were reportedly on-duty policemen in the targeted area. A chilling video clip circulating on social media, shared by Facebook user Anyaeri Bright, displayed the lifeless bodies of the victims.
According to Bright’s account, two policemen and two civilians lost their lives in the attack. The assailants, who fled the scene, unleashed gunfire at the junction, leading to the fatalities.
As of the latest update, the motive behind the attack remains unknown, and authorities are yet to ascertain the reasons behind this violent incident.
In a parallel development on the same day, Point of Sales (PoS) operators in various parts of Owerri also faced attacks, with reports of stolen money.
Presh Iheanacho recounted the harrowing experience, stating, “Earlier today, around 9 am, some armed men in a Corolla vehicle attacked some POS shops and passersby just before Rapour Junction, disposing them of cash and valuables.”
Another resident, Ikechukwu Eze, disclosed that additional PoS operators fell victim to robbery at Amawire – Orji on the Owerri – Okigwe Road. Iheanacho further highlighted a separate incident at Christiana Junction on Egbu Road, where criminals targeted PoS operators around 8 am.
Despite inquiries made to the state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, there is yet to be an official briefing on the incidents. Okoye has assured to provide more information, but at the time of this report, no updates have been received.
