Two Brothers Arrested for Allegedly Abducting, Robbing Man of N70m in Delta State
In a shocking incident in Delta State, two brothers, Maxwell Mathew and Samuel Mathew, have been arrested for allegedly abducting and robbing a man identified as Patrick Omoregie of N70 million. The incident occurred in Abraka, located in the Ethiope-East Local Government Area, where the suspects reportedly held the victim at gunpoint and forced him to transfer the sum from his bank account.
In addition to the money, the brothers also allegedly stole a GLC 300 Mercedes Benz, an iPhone 16 Plus, and N150,000 in cash from the victim. According to human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe, who confirmed the development on May 6, the suspects were apprehended at a hotel in Benin City, Edo State, where they were reportedly planning to sell the stolen vehicle.
During police interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to using part of the stolen money to pay their mother’s rent in Abraka. Authorities have so far recovered approximately N30 million of the stolen N70 million. The case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Delta State Police Command for further investigation.
Comrade Joe has urged the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution to send a strong message to other potential offenders.
