Troops Clash with Lakurawa Terrorists in Sokoto, Six Killed, Five Soldiers Dead
Troops of the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade have killed six Lakurawa terrorists in Sokoto State during a military operation. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered in the encounter.
Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday. He stated that five soldiers lost their lives during the offensive.
According to him, the operation took place on January 11 in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where troops engaged the terrorists in combat. Following a firefight, six terrorists were neutralized, and weapons including four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a box of 12.7mm ammunition were recovered.
He expressed condolences over the loss of the soldiers, describing them as gallant troops who made the ultimate sacrifice. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities linked to terrorism in the region.
Lt. Col. Abdullahi emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring security and maintaining peace in the affected areas.
