Tinubu’s Loyalist Denounces ‘Pull-Him-Down Syndrome’ in APC Against Yahaya Bello, El-Rufai, Others
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Jesutega Onokpasa, has expressed deep concern over the internal conflicts within the party. Onokpasa, a staunch supporter of President Tinubu, decried what he termed the “pull-him-down syndrome” and internal divisions, warning that these issues are undermining the unity and success of the ruling party.
During a recent statement, Onokpasa accused certain individuals within the APC and Tinubu’s administration of conspiring against key figures who played significant roles in Tinubu’s election victory, specifically former Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
Highlighting the support and contributions of Bello and el-Rufai, Onokpasa criticized those using their positions of power to target these former governors. He emphasized that their efforts were crucial in securing the party’s victory and should be acknowledged rather than undermined.
In a video message, Onokpasa also addressed the current difficulties faced by APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and his family, suggesting that Ganduje is a victim of political vendetta. He condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for what he described as double standards in its actions against Bello, calling the anti-graft body the most corrupt institution in the country.
Onokpasa’s impassioned plea extended to the broader APC membership, urging unity and a cessation of internal strife. He argued that the party’s infighting only benefits the opposition, which is regrouping and gaining strength.
“So, we should all gang up against Yahaya Bello? We should all gang up against Nasir el-Rufai?” Onokpasa questioned. “We are falling apart like this. We won with less than 40 percent of the votes… Then, as we are, the next thing we will start doing is ganging up against one another in our party?”
He warned that the ongoing persecution of Bello and el-Rufai could lead to the party’s downfall, calling for an end to such actions. “Yahaya Bello and Nasir el-Rufai are our brothers. They stood with us when it mattered most. They stood with Asiwaju, and I love them for doing that. I am not abandoning them.”
Onokpasa concluded by urging party members to focus on supporting President Tinubu’s administration and addressing critical national issues like reducing inflation and stabilizing prices. He criticized those within the party more interested in personal gains and causing division.
“Stop scattering our party, stop tormenting our members, our brothers because you want to collect money from them,” he urged. “I call on my fellow progressives, my fellow genuine Batists, to keep supporting our president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.”
