Tinubu’s Enugu Visit a Game Changer, Says Okupe

Former presidential spokesman Doyin Okupe has described President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Enugu as a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s political landscape. In a statement released on Sunday in Lagos, Okupe praised Tinubu’s engagement with the South-East during his Saturday visit, characterizing it as a significant step towards unity and development.

Okupe commended the president’s candid approach and his commitment to fostering developmental projects in the region. He emphasized that Tinubu’s actions demonstrated genuine goodwill and affection for the South-East, describing the visit as an open-hearted gesture that any Nigerian of goodwill should applaud.

Highlighting the historical importance of political alliances, Okupe referenced the late Igbo leader Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu’s assertion that the absence of an East-West political alliance poses a threat to Nigeria’s unity and stability. He urged Tinubu to continue building bridges across the nation to ensure political stability and peaceful coexistence while working to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.

During the visit, Tinubu inaugurated several projects executed by Governor Peter Mbah, including 30 smart green schools, 60 completed Type 2 primary health centers, and the 19-kilometer Airport-New Haven–Bisalla and Okpara Square roads.

Addressing South-East stakeholders, Tinubu reiterated the necessity of removing petrol subsidies to secure Nigeria’s future. He emphasized the importance of such reforms in building a stable and prosperous nation.
