Tinubu Appoints Jibrin as New Secretary of CDCFIB
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed retired Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin as the new Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the board’s spokesperson, Juliet Okeh. Jibrin takes over from Ahmed Ja’afaru, the former Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
During the handover ceremony, Ja’afaru expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, acknowledging the brief but impactful nature of his tenure. He highlighted key achievements, including securing presidential approval for reforms such as granting the board’s secretariat independence, which enabled autonomous staff recruitment.
Ja’afaru attributed his accomplishments to the support of Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the board, and urged secretariat staff to extend full cooperation to Jibrin.
In his response, Jibrin thanked President Tinubu for the trust placed in him and pledged to build on the reforms initiated by his predecessor, ensuring continued progress within the board.
