Tension in Lafia as PDP Supporters Protest Supreme Court’s Verdict on Nasarawa Governor Poll
Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, is currently experiencing unrest as supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) take to the streets in protest against the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming Governor Abdullahi Sule’s election victory.
The Lafia-Jos Road has become a focal point of the demonstration, with PDP supporters obstructing the thoroughfare by burning tires in front of the party’s state secretariat. This blockade has compelled motorists to seek alternative routes within the state capital.
Security agencies are actively present on the ground, aiming to prevent any escalation of the situation and maintain order.
In response to the protest, shops, business centers, and schools in the Lafia metropolis have hastily closed, adding to the disruption caused by the road closures.
