Tenant’s Decomposing Body Found in Ogun Apartment

The Ogun State Police Command has reported the discovery of the decomposing body of a 45-year-old tenant, Tolulope Olusanya, at Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta, on the evening of Monday, January 7.

According to the landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, the discovery followed concerns about a strong, unpleasant odour emanating from Olusanya’s apartment. Adebayo alerted the Kemta Police Division, suspecting the tenant may have taken her own life.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that the landlord had become worried about the tenant’s well-being after noticing the odour. Upon investigating, Adebayo found the door to Olusanya’s apartment locked from the inside, which led him to raise an alarm.

Police officers from the Kemta Division responded promptly and found the apartment locked, with the foul odour noticeable through a window. After gaining access by breaking down the door, officers discovered Olusanya’s swollen body lying on the bed, indicating she had been dead for some time.

Efforts to transport the body to a hospital were hindered due to the absence of necessary medical equipment to handle the situation safely. Attempts to contact Olusanya’s family or local health authorities were also unsuccessful, as no immediate relatives could be reached.

CSP Odutola stated that the scene was secured, and police have cordoned off the area as investigations into the incident continue.
