TASUED Student Lynched in Daytime Cult Attack During Exam

In a tragic incident at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, a final-year student was brutally attacked and killed by suspected cult members during an exam session on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Ola Fabiyi, held the position of general governor for TASUED’s College of Humanities, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Eyewitnesses reported that chaos erupted when a group of men in white shirts stormed the ETF exam hall at noon, interrupting the exam session. They forcefully dragged Fabiyi out, subjected him to severe beating with stones, stabbed him, and abandoned him unconscious in nearby bushes.

The incident occurred during the final exam paper and “sign-out” tradition of the history department, leaving students in shock and horror. A video surfaced later, showing about 15 men assaulting Fabiyi as helpless onlookers watched from a distance.

Campus security personnel arrived after the assailants had fled the scene. Fabiyi was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, was unavailable for comment at the time of this report. However, TASUED’s Deputy Registrar, Babatunde Odugbesan, announced the immediate suspension of ongoing second-semester exams.

“TASUED students’ safety is our priority. We urge calm as investigations into this heinous act are underway,” stated Odugbesan.

This tragic incident has reignited concerns over cult violence at TASUED, which was previously shut down for two weeks in mid-2023 following clashes resulting in the death of a third-year student amid tensions with the Imaweje community over cult-related allegations.
