Taraba Woman Arrested for Severely Burning Step-Grandson’s Lips with Hot Knife
In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage, a woman in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State has been arrested for allegedly burning her step-grandson’s lips with a hot knife, leaving the young boy with severe injuries.
The victim, identified as Chinecherem Julius, was reportedly assaulted by his grandfather’s wife in an attack that has been described as brutal and inhumane. The woman is accused of using a hot knife to mutilate the boy’s lips in an act that has been widely condemned.
Ibrahim Audu Angyu, Senior Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Chairman of Wukari LGA, confirmed the arrest, expressing deep shock and dismay at the incident. “It is beyond comprehension how a person can harm a child in such a brutal manner,” Angyu stated.
Angyu praised the swift actions of the Executive Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Hon. Dauda Agbu Samaila, for ordering the immediate arrest of the woman. He emphasized that this decisive action underscores that no one is above the law and that justice must be served, regardless of the circumstances.
“The chairman’s intervention in ensuring that young Chinecherem received medical care and that the perpetrator was apprehended is commendable,” Angyu added. “This sets a strong example for others in positions of authority.”
He further stressed the importance of safeguarding the welfare of children, noting that such acts of violence against them cannot be tolerated. “We must all work together to create a safe and loving environment for all children to thrive and grow,” he said.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with many calling for stricter measures to protect children from such horrific acts of violence.
