Tambuwal Speaks After EFCC Detention, Reveals Details of Interrogation

Former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has spoken out following his recent detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), providing insight into his interrogation experience.

Speaking in Sokoto after what he described as a “brief visit” to the EFCC, Tambuwal said he voluntarily appeared at the agency’s office on August 6 following an official invitation. After initial questioning, he was allowed to return home but was asked to report back on August 10 and 11 for further interrogation.

During the follow-up sessions, Tambuwal requested to leave after hours of questioning, but EFCC officials insisted he provide two sureties—specifically directors in the Federal Civil Service with letters of introduction from their employers—before he could be released.

He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and rejected any notion of political realignment, affirming his commitment to the coalition for national rescue.

Tambuwal concluded by stressing his resilience, saying he cannot be intimidated or blackmailed, and that his record remains untarnished.
