“Talk is Cheap. Neither Obi nor Atiku Could Achieve What Tinubu is Doing Now.” – Former DG Peter Obi Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe

Former Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe, has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the president’s economic reforms are vital for Nigeria’s future stability. Following a meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Okupe appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today to discuss his shift in support.

Okupe, who had campaigned for Labour Party candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 election, now believes Tinubu is making the necessary, albeit difficult, decisions to secure the nation’s recovery. “President Tinubu is doing exceedingly well, and if given more understanding and support, he will achieve even greater things for Nigeria,” Okupe said.

As Nigerians face unprecedented inflation and surging energy costs, Okupe defended the administration’s policies, which include the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of forex rates. He emphasized that these policies, while challenging, are essential for long-term growth and stability.

Addressing criticisms from opposition leaders Obi and Atiku Abubakar, Okupe dismissed their approaches, stating, “Talk is cheap. Neither Obi nor Atiku could achieve what Tinubu is doing now.” He underscored that Tinubu’s leadership and resilience are what the country needs, despite the short-term hardships.

Okupe ended by affirming his confidence in Tinubu’s ability to guide Nigeria through these challenges. “Bola Tinubu will fix this nation,” he said confidently. “Take that to the bank.”
