Soludo Distributes 2000 Laptops, Propelling Anambra’s Digital Education Drive
In a move to catalyze Anambra State’s journey towards digital transformation, Governor Charles Soludo fulfilled his pledge by distributing 2,000 state-of-the-art laptops to headteachers, ICT teachers, and principals of public and public-mission schools across the region. The initiative, in line with Soludo’s vision of ‘Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere,’ underscores the government’s commitment to digitizing all sectors of the state’s economy.
The distribution event, held at the International Conference Centre in Awka, marked a pivotal moment in Anambra’s education landscape, aligning with the Anambra State ICT Agency’s mission to propel the state into a technology hub. Addressing the gathering, Governor Soludo emphasized the crucial role of educators in shaping the future of society, stressing the necessity for teachers to embrace technology to champion 21st-century education.
“We cannot achieve a fully digitized Anambra while our educators remain in analog mode,” Governor Soludo asserted. “Hence, we’re prioritizing equipping our teachers and students with the necessary tools to thrive in today’s digital age.” He further outlined plans to expand free public Wi-Fi access to schools, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and creativity among students.
Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, Managing Director of the State ICT Agency, lauded Governor Soludo’s unwavering commitment to advancing technology in Anambra. He highlighted the significance of integrating teachers into the digitization revolution, citing their pivotal role in nurturing the state’s future tech leaders.
The recipients of the laptops expressed profound gratitude, hailing Governor Soludo as a proactive leader attuned to the evolving needs of the populace. They pledged to utilize the equipment effectively, embracing the digital revolution sweeping through Anambra’s education sector.
