A joint team of security operatives has successfully dislodged Ifeanyi Okorienta, a notorious commander of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and members of his gang during a raid on their hideouts in Aku village, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. The operation, which took place on Friday, November 29, was carried out by a team consisting of the military, police, DSS, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected IPOB members in the area.

Brigadier General Usman Lawal, Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Obinze, Owerri, confirmed the operation in a briefing on Tuesday. He stated that the operation was aimed at clearing the area of IPOB elements, and noted that peace has begun to return to the region as a result. He urged the residents of Aku to support security efforts by providing reliable information that could help in the fight against criminal elements.

The displacement of Okorienta and his gang was hailed as a significant development, with Lawal highlighting that the operation had created an opportunity for the people of Aku to celebrate the upcoming Yuletide in peace. Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, expressed his commitment to continued cooperation with all security agencies involved in the operation, while Gen.
