Security in Anambra: Police Arrest Prime Suspect in Murder of Pregnant Nurse in Ogbunike
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a key suspect in the killing of a pregnant nurse whose mutilated body was discovered in Ogbunike, in Oyi Local Government Area.
Police said the suspect, Chibunna Nwafor, 26, also known as “Offonwadile,” was taken into custody on 11 February 2026 at a hideout in the Umueri community following intelligence gathered during the investigation.
According to the Command, the arrest was made through information provided by residents working with officers on the case. The suspect has since been transferred to a higher investigative unit for further questioning and discreet inquiry.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, commended members of the public whose cooperation aided the arrest and said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend others linked to the crime.
Police said investigations are continuing and further updates will be issued as the case develops.
