JUST IN: Fubara Dissolves Rivers State Executive Council
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
All Commissioners and Special Advisers have been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries.
The directive was issued on Thursday.
The development comes days after a high-level meeting in Abuja involving Governor Fubara, President Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The meeting, which held on Sunday at the Presidential Villa, followed escalating political tension in Rivers State and renewed impeachment moves against the governor.
Sources within the Presidency indicated that the intervention was intended to address the growing crisis between the executive and legislative arms of the state government.
This is a developing story.
