Saudi Pro League issues strong warning to Ronaldo over transfer protest
The Saudi Pro League has issued a pointed message to Cristiano Ronaldo amid reports of his dissatisfaction with Al Nassr’s activity during the January transfer window.
Ronaldo, who captains Al Nassr, is said to be unhappy with the club’s failure to secure new signings. The 41-year-old has already missed one league match and is reportedly considering sitting out Friday’s fixture against Al-Ittihad.
In a statement released on Thursday, the league stressed that all clubs operate independently within the same regulatory framework, regardless of financial strength or player influence.
“The Saudi Pro League is built on a simple idea: every club works independently but follows the same rules,” the statement read.
It added: “Like any top player, he wants to win. But no one, not even a superstar, can decide what happens outside their own team.”
