Salesgirl Arraigned for Allegedly Stealing Employer’s N2.1 Million
A 23-year-old salesgirl, Bukola Adeoye, was arraigned on Wednesday by the police before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N2.1 million from her employer.
The defendant, whose address remains undisclosed, faced a single charge of stealing but pleaded not guilty during the court proceedings.
Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the prosecutor, informed the court that the alleged offence took place on December 20, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. in the Mosafejo area of Badagry. According to Adeosun, Adeoye was accused of stealing N968,200 in cash, which belonged to her employer, Zannu Thomas. Additionally, the defendant allegedly misappropriated N1,174,800 from sales proceeds over one week, converting the funds to personal use.
The prosecutor stated that the alleged actions violated Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N500,000, requiring two sureties of the same amount. The case has been adjourned until February 11, 2025, for further mention.
