Teacher Arrested in Lagos for Slapping 3-Year-Old Pupil
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Stella Nwadigo, a teacher at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, over allegations of assaulting a three-year-old pupil, Abayomi Michael. The arrest followed the circulation of a viral video showing the teacher slapping the young child, which sparked widespread outrage on social media.
The video, widely shared online, drew significant public condemnation and prompted calls for immediate action. In response, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest through its spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated, “The teacher has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing investigation. Further necessary actions will follow to ensure justice is served.”
The incident has reignited discussions about child protection and the need for educators to uphold a safe and nurturing environment for children. Parents and guardians of pupils at Christ-Mitots School have expressed alarm over the situation, with many advocating for stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents in schools across Lagos State.
