“Rivers 2025 Budget to Be Presented Soon to Oko-Jumbo-Led Assembly,” Says Governor Fubara
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced plans to present the 2025 budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo. This collaboration underscores a strengthened relationship between the executive and legislative branches in Rivers State, with shared goals for development and effective governance.
The announcement was made by Fubara, represented by his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, during the commissioning of two newly completed town halls and the launch of a scholarship and empowerment program in the Bonny Local Government Area. Speaking at the event, Fubara commended Oko-Jumbo for his commitment to Rivers residents, describing him as a “good ambassador” of the Ibani Kingdom and praising the Assembly’s prompt action on recent legislative matters.
“The government and the people of Rivers State heartily congratulate you and appreciate your role as a representative. While the legislative arm remains independent, we will continue to collaborate to ensure prosperity for our people,” Fubara stated. He highlighted that the Assembly, under Oko-Jumbo’s leadership, has expedited screening processes for local government committee members and facilitated executive projects, which has paved the way for the budget’s anticipated passage.
The Governor also acknowledged the Speaker’s focus on delivering tangible constituency projects, contrasting this active engagement with the inactivity of 25 former lawmakers he referred to as “Abuja-based politicians.” He continued, “Constituency projects are a testament to elected representatives’ commitment to their people. Meanwhile, the 25 former Assembly members who dismissed themselves — have they initiated any projects? Do we see them inspecting or commissioning anything?”
Oko-Jumbo, for his part, expressed his gratitude to the Bonny community for their support of the 10th Assembly. He assured them that the Assembly would continue its developmental agenda for the people of Rivers State, focusing on Bonny Local Government’s inclusion in future infrastructure projects. He pledged to stand with the Governor, adding, “The 2025 budget, which His Excellency will soon present, will include key developments for Bonny.”
