#RevolutionNow: Nigerians Hail Jonathan for Tolerating Peaceful Protests
Following the arrest and detention of the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services (DSS) and yesterday’s clampdown on protesters by security agents during the #RevolutionNow protests that took place in some parts of the country, Nigerians have hailed former president Goodluck Jonathan for allowing peaceful dissent under his administration.
The Aare of Onakakanfo Yorubaland, Gani Adams while calling for the release of Sowore reminded Nigerians that those in the corridors of power today were part of protests against Jonathan’s administration.
“It is unfortunate that many of the people at the corridors of power today were part of the protests against former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, but today the situation has changed” he said.
Others took to Twitter to appreciate the former president for his tolerance of protests.
