“Goodluck Jonathan Is Inept and a Weakling, Unfit to Govern” — Henry Okah
Henry Emomotimi Okah, the Niger Delta activist serving a prison sentence in South Africa for the 2010 Independence Day attacks, has labeled former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan “inept and a weakling” and unfit to govern.
In a letter from his Pretoria cell titled “Coordinated Attacks On The Unity Of the Ijaw Nation: Diezani Allison-Madueke”, Okah linked his criticism to wider concerns about the Niger Delta and the ongoing London trial of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke.
Okah alleged that during his presidency, Jonathan collaborated with international actors, including the British government and South African leaders, to suppress Niger Delta voices for political advantage.
He described Allison-Madueke’s prosecution in London as politically motivated, claiming it seeks to benefit President Bola Tinubu ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections, and questioned why other alleged cases of Nigerian leaders’ looted wealth in the UK remain unaddressed.
Emphasizing resistance to foreign interference, Okah referenced his own detention in South Africa, which he says involved collusion between Nigerian officials and South African authorities, and warned that similar patterns may be repeated in London.
He concluded with a call for the Ijaw Nation to remain united, vigilant, and critical of outside influence in Nigerian political affairs.
