Residents Flee as Security Forces Withdraw from Kaduna Village

Maganda Village in Magajin Gari Ward III, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, is witnessing a mass exodus as residents flee their homes in the wake of the sudden withdrawal of security personnel from the area.

The departure of the security forces has fueled anxiety among villagers, many of whom are apprehensive about potential attacks by long-standing bandit threats in the region.

According to reports, the security personnel, responsible for safeguarding the community, left abruptly last Saturday, catching the locals off guard and leaving them in a state of confusion.

Ismail A. Ahmed, a resident and former councillor who evacuated his family from the area, described the aftermath of the withdrawal as chaotic. He recounted how bandits swiftly seized the opportunity to invade the community, looting homes and extorting money from residents without encountering any resistance.

Fleeing for their safety, villagers have left behind their homes, agricultural produce, and personal belongings. Ahmed emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “I left with my family because we are not safe. Most people left their crops behind and fled with minimal belongings to save their lives as the bandits went from house to house, confiscating phones and money.”

Ishaq Usman Kasai, Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), confirmed the incident and issued an appeal to the government, especially the military authorities, urging swift redeployment of personnel to Maganda Village to protect the innocent residents from the escalating threat.
