“Remove Me from Your Wanted List” – Sunday Igboho Tells Nigerian Government

Yoruba Nation campaigner Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has pleaded with the Federal Government to remove his name from its list of wanted persons, saying he has committed no crime.

Speaking during a visit to the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Olusola Alao, at his palace in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State on Tuesday, Igboho said his designation as a wanted man by the previous administration has severely affected his life.

“I’m not a criminal, yet I’ve been treated like one,” Igboho said. “I can’t use my Nigerian passport or access my bank accounts simply because I’m defending the interest of Yorubaland.”

He revealed that his return to Nigeria from Germany was made possible only through the intervention of Oba Alao, saying he would otherwise have remained in exile.

“I couldn’t come to Nigeria, let alone sleep in my house in Ibadan,” he said. “I’m tired of staying in exile.”

Igboho appealed to Oba Alao and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, to intervene and help him appeal to the Federal Government to clear his name.

In response, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon assured him that a formal appeal would be made to both the Federal Government and South-West governors. He also pledged to recommend Igboho for a leadership role in the proposed South-West regional vigilante group.

“Igboho is not a criminal and should not be treated as one,” the monarch said. “I will write to the authorities not only to allow his free entry into Nigeria but also to support his leadership in regional security efforts.”

Igboho became a prominent figure in 2021 for his strong stance on Yoruba self-determination and his vocal opposition to insecurity in the South-West.
