RCCG Pastor Kills Wife Over Suspicion of Infidelity in Akwa Ibom
A tragic case of domestic violence has shocked residents of Oron Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State after a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Victor Okoh, allegedly murdered his wife, Victoria Okoh, over suspicions of infidelity.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 10, 2025, at the couple’s residence. Victoria, 38, was reportedly attacked with a machete by her husband, resulting in fatal injuries. When police arrived at the scene following a distress call from neighbours, they found her lifeless body outside their home.
According to the police, Victor Okoh, 42, attempted to escape arrest by hiding in the ceiling of the house. He was eventually apprehended, and the machete believed to have been used in the attack was recovered. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command confirmed that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
Victoria, described by neighbours as soft-spoken and dedicated to her family, had reportedly endured a troubled marriage marked by repeated accusations and verbal abuse. Many expressed regret, saying the signs were there but the tragic outcome still came as a shock.
The police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, said investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody. She added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, strongly condemned the killing and reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
In the aftermath of the incident, Nollywood filmmaker Aniebiet Francis took to social media to speak out against domestic violence. She wrote: “Dear woman, marry right!!!! Marry your tribe!!!! Any man that beats you will kill you someday.”
Victoria is survived by her two young children.
