RCCG Pastor Arraigned in Lagos Court for Alleged Sexual Offences Against Daughter
A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Emmanuel Orekoya, faced charges in the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday for allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with his 17-year-old daughter.
The Lagos State Government brought forward two charges, accusing Orekoya of unlawful sexual intercourse and sexual assault.
During the proceedings, the state’s prosecution counsel, Abimbola Abolade, revealed that the alleged incidents occurred in 2017 at Jacob Adeleye Street, Odoeran, Itire area of the state. Abolade stated that Orekoya, in violation of Section 137 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015, was accused of sexually assaulting the victim by inserting his finger into her vagina and placing his penis in her mouth.
The defendant entered a plea of not guilty, leading Justice Soladoye to adjourn the case until April 17, 2024, for the commencement of the trial.
