Rape: 15year Old Girl accused of Killing Father’s Friend Freed

A Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos has discharged and acquitted a 15 year old girl, who was charged for murdering Babatunde Ishola, her father’s friend, who was also alleged to have attempted to rape her.

The girl was arraigned by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, on a one count charge of murdering Ishola by stabbing with a knife.

The offence was said to have been committed at Nwadolu street, Aboru, Alimosho area of Lagos State on March 7, 2020.

The Magistrate, Phillip Adebowale Ojo, struck out the charge, stating that, facts required to prove the offence of murder against the suspect were not present in the case.

The Magistrate, in a ruling, held that after due consideration of facts, it was duly decided that there were insufficient facts to establish a prima facie case of murder against the suspect contrary to section 222 of the criminal Law, cap C17, vol 3 Laws of Lagos State.

Consequently, Magistrate Ojo discharged and acquitted the suspect of murder charge.
